College is not always about Glamor. This is a story about a college girl who fights depression.
“College life is colorful. College life is fun, she thought. But little did I know the reality.”
Like all girls, I was so excited to go to college after my 12th. Enrolled in a good college with a pretty good percentage. Am my friend, Sadana decided to go to the same college and even made it to the same group, Commerce.
I and Sadana have been together since school days and our parents know each other well. I was a nerd since school. Debates, writing contests, cultural events were my thing. I loved what I did and it was my comfort zone.
But I guess this is what made things worst. I guess I being too much involved in the things I love ignored some things I thought were least important. My appearance!
I paid the least attention to how I looked. Be it my dressing be it my hair and be it how my face looked. I entered college with a lot of ambition, hope, and excitement. But it all started to fade little by little as days passed.
I did not were fancy dresses or branded clothes as they say, to college. I did not have expensive bags to show off, I had a very normal hairstyle. But these things which were normal to me were too very abnormal to my friends at college.
I was making myself drown in the situation. But my friends Sadana and a couple of others tried so hard to bring me out of this “college mess” My friends left no stoned unturned in making things better for me. They spoke to people who were commenting on me.
Now, after a few months into depression, my friends understood that this kind of behavior is dangerous. This gesture from friends helped me to come out from it and have colorful college days.
Sometimes small understanding matters the most!
This is a simple fiction story about how small things matters for Mental Health. How friends come to rescue us from being further drowning into depression.
In this series, I would write about more such fiction stories in which small elements would help the character into a better state of mind.
