Am I only a servant to you? Short stories on mental health.
A story of a housewife and her journey as a wife so far.
“Marriage is fruitful they said. Marriage is all about understanding and to be understood they said. But in my married life, I was only a servant!”
I was married off young at 22. I was ok with it! it was an arranged marriage so I had met the groom just twice and the wedding was fix with mine and his interest. Families were involved and we had a grand wedding.
I was on could 9 as any other girl would be. Before wedding he seemed pretty nice guy. Pretended to share my interests and my goals. He was encouraging when I said I wanted to work after my Masters. He was OK with it too.
Few months into the marriage
Things were different now! We hardly spoke! He just orders me things to do and I have to fulfill them. Just in case if I fail to do then he would bash me up so hard that few times I was left unconscious.
I was in no intention to raise my voice but I tried to change him with trying to talk to him. Making him realize that this is rude and so hurting. Luckily, we lived alone and I had the time and liberty to make things work between us.
With love and constant effort, I made him realize that what he was doing was indeed wrong. And in this process, I was strict and ridged with him. I always believed that things would not work if the two of them were shouting at each other.
3 years into the marriage
We were blessed with a baby girl and now she became our lifeline and our second chance for our marriage. During the time he realized how harsh and rude he was and this realization has got him guilt too.
Thing that helped me and my marriage was, when both shout nothing would resolve. Calm down and talk it out. Be free with the mental disturbances and look for ways to make things right in your own way.
Am I only a servant to you? Short stories on mental health
This is a simple fiction story about how small things matters for Mental Health. How talking things out in a cool manner comes to rescue us from being further drowning into depression.
In this series, I would write about more such fiction stories in which small elements would help the character into a better state of mind.
