The pain of losing a child. Short stories on mental health is a story about a mother who lost her child to a fatal accident.

“Kids are the apple of our eyes. We are very careful when it came to them. Be it their eating habits, be it toys, or be it safety, we make sure we check twice before we go ahead.”

It was such a normal day, amazing weather my kid, Savitri who was 7 years old, was playing outside the gate while I watch her from the door while I was cleaning the webs. It is a safe place as my house is in a lane and towards the dead end.

He was hit by a bike! It all happened within seconds before even realized, she was in a pool of blood. The biker was on the run. I and other locals rushed her to a hospital where she was declared brought dead!

I was inconsolably weeping. The investigation took place it was said that due to an uncovered manhole the biker lost his control and this happened. It took years and years to recover from this loss. But I even realized that I have a bigger responsibility to handle.

Do, what the government couldn’t do (Pain of losing a child. Short stories on mental health)

I started to campaign for the uncovered manholes. I repaired myself. I had few government officials support this support. And avoided many other mishaps that were to occur.

The pain is a lot. But from that pain came the responsibility and in the memories of Savitri, my campaign is lauded by many and it gave me happiness that I am doing something for her. I don’t want any mother to go through what I went.

This is a simple fiction story about how small things matters for Mental Health. How involved in civic campaign comes to rescue us from being further drowning in depression.

In this series, I would write about more such fiction stories in which small elements would help the character into a better state of mind.
